#VirtualIronbridge – Over the coming months, in conjunction with the facebook group, Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale Pictures, we shall be taking thousands of pictures to make a virtual tour of Ironbridge that shall go onto Google Earth, Maps & Streetview for the world to see.
The virtual tour will work the same way that Google Streetview works, with a difference being that it is shot on camera and tripod, as opposed to being photographed by a Google camera-car. We can go places the car doesn’t – like narrow alleyways, alongside the river bank and inside your business. You will be able to click along inside and out.
We would like to invite all businesses* in Ironbridge, Coalbrookdale, Coalport & Jackfield to take part in this huge project – to put Ironbridge IN the map… Virtually.
There are two options to have your business included –
1. Two or Three virtual tour pictures inside – that will link to the whole outside tour
2. As many photos inside needed to give a complete Google Tour, with an independent Google listing (with “See Inside” and all the Google benefits), AND inclusion in to Virtual Ironbridge.
The finished images will be made available to download, to each business owner to add to their own website – or Facebook page. Our recent “Under the Bridge” image uploaded to the new 360 facebook feature, attracted nearly 3,000 views in the first 36 hours of being published.

Terms & Techie Stuff:
*Businesses which can be included are where the public can go – this cannot be inside your home unless you have a separate door for the public – or you have a B&B.
Billing – you will be invoiced by Netronix – either in full, or 40% deposit if you prefer, and the remainder will be due when you have approved the photographs. Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer, Paypal, or credit/debit card.
The photos are taken on a Canon EOS camera with a fisheye lens, on a special tripod mount, called a Pano Head, to align the centre point of the lens with the centre of the tripod. Four photos are taken, spinning the camera on the Pano Head at 90 degrees – each with an under and over exposed image to get the best light and dark points of the the image. So, in total, 12 pictures are taken for one shot (a spin). These are all stitched together and aligned, then blended to get the best lighting result. This process is pretty time consuming! The images are uploaded to Google, then added into the tour.
If you wish a full Google Tour, there are extra steps needed to add your tour to your Google my Business page (we can make this for you if you don’t have one), building an internal track of your premises to place each image, and moderating the whole thing to make sure its accurate. Once published, you are added to priority search results, and the “see inside” button is added to the Google search results page. You can add links to this tour to your website and all your social media sites.
